On Monday 31ST October, Form 5s attended a talk about the British vessel HMS Protector which arrived to Uruguay last week. Form 5 students wrote down their reflections.
As part of our Unit of Inquiry, How the world works and taking into account the central idea of this Unit: Earth is part of a larger Universe, our Prep students visited the Planetarium on Thursday, 3rd of November.
The Form 6 “News report presentation” took place last week in their classrooms. It involved students writing and preparing a short report on an authentic global issue or topic and delivering it in the most engaging way possible.
The Form 2´s visited Reserva Pan de Azúcar on a lovely sunny day. Using their knowledge of animals and habitats they had learnt throughout the unit, they made observations about the different native animals they saw there.
The idea of having Playground Buddies came from a discussion between the Head of Junior, Mr Mallon and the Form 6 Prefects, with the idea being to implement it during playtimes.
As a closing event of the third Unit of Inquiry: “Who is hiding in my garden?” Kinder R students recorded a movie summarising the most important concepts they studied: minibeasts and their body parts, their habitats and jobs in nature and the environment.
Form 1 students presented their End of Year Celebration based on the Unif of Inquiry "How the World Works". The students, parents and families really enjoyed the show.
What is challenging? Why is this relevant? How does your chosen issue show a global perspective? Is this worth knowing? How would you share your knowledge? What is your conclusion about the issue? These are some of the questions Form 5 students ask themselves as they work in preparation for the PYP Exhibition.
The planning of this activity was done in coordination with Senior and Early Years in order to build links and enable constructive exchange between the two generational groups as part of the school's Community Commitment projects.
