Recycle My Bicycle

Recycle My Bicycle

As part of their Global Perspectives projects, our Year 10 students took the initiative to organize ‘Recycle My Bicycle’, a meaningful community project with a simple but powerful goal: giving old bicycles a new life while helping children in need.

The Year 10 students invited our Year 4 students and their families to take part by donating and refurbishing old bicycles. Together, students and parents repaired, cleaned and prepared the bicycles so they could be donated to Centro La Esperanza.

Thanks to the generosity and commitment of everyone involved, we were able to collect and refurbish an amazing 56 bicycles!

These bicycles will be distributed to the children who attend La Esperanza, providing them with a safe and practical means of transportation. Many of these children currently have to walk long distances to get to school, so having a bicycle will make their daily journeys easier and help them get to school more efficiently.

This project has shown that small actions can make a big difference. It has also been a wonderful opportunity for our students to put the values of empathy, sustainability, community service and global responsibility into action.

A huge thank you to all the students, parents and families who contributed their time, bicycles, skills and enthusiasm. Together, we gave 56 bicycles a new life; and, most importantly, helped make the journey to school a little easier for many children.
