AGORA MNUY 2022

On Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th of August, the Modelo de las Naciones Unidas Uruguay took place in the Intendencia de Montevideo. This conference, which is exclusively for university students, hopes to encourage young people to get involved in international matters while practicing their discussion and communication skills. We are proud to say that five members of the TBS MUN Club participated as delegates; Leah Cowley (3YL), Florencia Lombardi (6YL), Franco Malde (4YL), Bautista Martínez (6YL), and Fiorella Rossi (6YL).

Although it was their first time taking part in a MUN conference held in Spanish, the delegates did an excellent job, preparing weeks prior to the event. There were four committees: Asamblea General (General Assembly), Consejo de Seguridad (Security Council), ECOSOC, and Consejo de Derechos Humanos (Human Rights Council). Our members were representing the delegations of Kenya and Ghana in the Security Council, where they partook in a successful debate, engaging with other delegates and defending their position.

Even if the two days proved to be a laborious event, our students gained new experiences and formed friendly bonds with older MUN participants.
