St. Andrew's Essay Writing Competition 2015

Prior to the holidays, 40 Senior School students took part in the St. Andrew's Society of the River Plate Annual Essay Writing Competition.

Carefully selected by their English teachers, the students from years 1 to 5 gathered in the library with furrowed brows, and pens at the ready, to strive to produce a piece of prize-winning writing. Pitted against students from schools throughout Argentina and Uruguay, students were given a choice of creative or argumentative compositions titles into which they had to pour their creative and intellectual talents. Two hours later, papers were submitted and then sent to Buenos Aires to await judgement.

Hopes of success were high after last year´s relative avalanche of place prizes and certificates of merit. Special mention should be given to Paulina Cassoni in year 2 for her story which won first prize last year.  As for this year?  Will anyone repeat Paulina´s triumph?  Let´s wait and see. Fingers crossed!
