LAMUN 22 - WAVES OF CHANGE
Last weekend, LAMUN took place with nearly 300 participants between the virtual and the in-person conference. Schools from Chile, Panamá, El Salvador, Paraguay , Vietnam, among others , were part of this first hybrid LAMUN conference.
We had the honor to have as our Guest Speaker for the opening ceremony Praveen Agrawal, the Head of the World Food Program in Egipt. Praveen has been working for the WFP for over 33 years and has been in many countries facilitating the role of this UN organization. In his speech, he inspired everyone to be a participant rather than a spectator and to act, as just one small positive change can create a ripple effect on everyone around you.
The conference was a two days event where over 15 resolutions were discussed, about 35 Position Papers were submitted, more than 300 speeches were listened to, around 140 burgues were eaten and 32 awards were won. All that under great diplomacy, respect for others positions and objectivity to be aligned with their respective Nations’ stand. The skills gained are a great asset to all the participants.
Unfortunately, this year we are going to say goodbye to an amazing and committed Secretariat who we all are very thankful to, but we hope that LAMUN continues to grow both, in Uruguay and internationally as it is a remarkable, enriching and exciting experience for everyone involved, including the 13 Admin personnel who were Form 6 students. Undoubtedly, they were a wonderful addition to the LAMUN team.
