IB DIPLOMA GRADUATION 6YL 2017
The IB Diploma certificates are not available until January, so when our Y6 students leave School there is no chance to receive them formally. For this reason, they are invited back after they have left school so we can say congratulations to them in person and present their certificates to them. Last week we welcomed back the generation of 2017 in order to receive their IB Diploma certificates and the School´s graduation medals. The great majority were present, although some, due to studies or being overseas, could not attend.
Speeches were made by Mark Rosevear, Inés Etcheverry, and Camila Römer on behalf of the students while Mr. Martin Wells, Board member, fínished the ceremony by congratulating them on their achievements and welcomed them to their new roles as ‘former students’.
It was a very enjoyable evening, and we wish all of the students from 2017 every success for the future.
We attach Martin Stewart´s (2017 Headboy) speech:
My thoughts about GRADUATION
During the course of life we will undoubtedly face several events that will change
us, both for the better or for the worse. These will mark something in us, and although
some may leave a stronger mark than others, it's a mark nonetheless. Graduating from
The British Schools is undeniably an event that leaves a mark behind, and a strong one. It
is well known that when something ends, a phase, a chapter, one is presented with the
opportunity to reflect on it. Reliving the moments that made what has ended so special
and have the power to automatically make our face smile or to flood our eyes with
tears.
When faced before a moment like this, we get two choices, one, to get upset
because it has finished, or two, to appreciate all that we have lived, and to value what we
have gone through, in order for it to light our way for what will come.
The British Schools has provided us with innumerable friendships, fantastic experiences,
unbelievable stories, and an unparalleled education, and because of it, when we have to
face the challenge to move on, to start over, we must realise that we now possess
countless tools that will help us carve our future into whatever we are dreaming to
become.
