BUDDY SYSTEM

BUDDY SYSTEM

The Buddy System is an initiative that originated from a project proposed by the students themselves. This programme consists of a mentoring system, in which experienced Senior students can voluntarily offer to support the academic and social journeys of students who entered Year 7 in 2025. The student mentors are known as Lions, while the Year 7 students are called Cubs. This initiative aims to strengthen bonds within the student body, providing an opportunity to build trusting relationships that support learning and personal growth for everyone involved. Each Cub will be paired with a Lion to fulfil this purpose.

On Friday 28 March, the Lions took part in a second training session with the Wellbeing team to prepare for their meeting with the Cubs. During this session, they reflected on the challenges faced by Year 7 students and explored potential strategies to support them in their new roles.

The first meeting between Lions and Cubs took place on Friday 4 April. After the programme was introduced to the Year 7 students, the Lions and Cubs joined together for an integration activity. It was a truly enriching experience.

We hope that both Lions and Cubs will grow and learn from this experience.
