Y6 - PUBLIC SPEAKING
The Form 6 “News report presentation” took place last week in their classrooms. It involved students writing and preparing a short report on an authentic global issue or topic and delivering it in the most engaging way possible.
It was an amazing opportunity to witness how students grow in confidence as they develop new skills and push themselves just beyond their comfort zone.
An experienced audience, including members of the Junior Management Team and Senior English Teachers, gave constructive feedback to all participants after their presentations.
We are encouraging public speaking to help students:
- Increase the ability to communicate to a wider audience;
- Challenge students to engage with wide-ranging cross-curricular topics;
- Encourage students to think more widely on a range of issues;
- Prepare students for future roles, which include speaking to an audience;
- Increase self-confidence.
Most importantly, it’s great fun and a terrific way for students to develop their oracy skills in a friendly, supportive environment.
We would like to thank Form 6 teachers and the Year 1 English department for being such a receptive and responsive audience in supporting our Form 6 students.
