Gerrit Jones-Rooy´s visit

This year, we were delighted to welcome Gerrit Jones-Rooy to our Junior School — an inspiring educator and published author who was the Senior Director of Academics at Columbia University.

During his time with us, Gerrit worked closely with our teachers to deepen our shared understanding of how language shapes learning across all subject areas. His focus on building strong academic and inquiry-based language provided valuable insights into how we can support every student to grow as a confident communicator.

Through professional learning sessions and hands-on support in classrooms, Gerrit partnered with teachers to plan and model strategies that help students extend and up-level their vocabulary, while positioning every teacher as a teacher of language. His work has enriched our approaches to inquiry, language development and literacy instruction in meaningful ways.

We are grateful for the expertise and generosity Gerrit brought to our Community and we look forward to seeing the lasting impact of his visit in classrooms across the Junior School.
