Sharing the Planet: Learning at Reserva Pan de Azúcar

As part of our ‘Sharing the Planet’ unit, the learners enjoyed a special visit to Reserva Pan de Azúcar. They explored the reserve, asked questions and encountered a variety of native animals, including pumas, foxes, capybaras, deer and birds.
Being there gave the learners the opportunity to observe the animals up close, notice their behaviours and surroundings, and learn directly from the reserve’s specialist guides about the different food, shelter, space and care they need to thrive. One memorable discovery was learning why wild animals cannot be kept as pets, as they need to develop the skills required to survive in nature.
Through this hands-on experience, the learners connected their classroom learning with the world around them and reflected on how caring for animals and their habitats is part of our responsibility to care for the natural world.
The day was also filled with laughter, shared lunch, play and plenty of opportunities to enjoy the experience together!
