Discovering the Science Behind the Weather with Year 1

As part of our inquiry into ‘How the world works’, Year 1 students visited INUMET’s weather station for an exciting hands-on learning experience.
The students had the opportunity to explore and handle real weather instruments, discovering what each one measures and how it helps us understand weather conditions. Through observation and discussion, they began to make connections between the instruments, the data they provide and the weather we experience around us.
Our inquiry continued outdoors, where the students visited the field to observe the instruments in action. It was a wonderful opportunity for our learners to be curious, ask questions and discover how scientists monitor the weather every day. They were particularly thrilled about seeing the sunshine recorder in action and the human hairs inside the hygrometer.
We are so proud of our Year 1 students, who are already showing what it means to be real inquirers!
